Have you seen a bear in Cumberland?

The Village of Cumberland is working towards becoming a bear smart community. We have teamed up with local wildlife officials in an initiative to keep Cumberland Bears wild and away from human/bear conflicts. It is our belief that these fabulous animals can co-exist with people in our community. Our goal is to reduce the amount of attractants in our community. These attractants lure bears into town which can pose a potential risk to human safety and property damage. By reducing the attractants we help bears move through the area quicker in their search for food.

Please help us track bear movement in Cumberland so we can identify problem areas most frequented by the bears. This information will also be helpful for residents and visitors in avoiding confrontations with wandering bears. View bear photos or submit your own for a chance to win a stainless steel bear aware water bottle. Check out our News page for the latest updates on bears in our community and upcoming bear awareness events. Need more information on how to become bear aware try our Links page or visit the Village of Cumberland Municipal Office Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
